How to Avoid Fake Chrome Extensions and Apps

Yet another example of why there’s no such thing as being too careful.

The Google Chrome Web Store is the place where Chrome users get most of their extensions, and also the place where fake and copied extensions and apps are regularly offered. Google has neglected the official Chrome Web Store in past years. The last redesign — which made the store worse — dates back to 2011. Worse, because Google decided to put apps front and center in the Chrome Web Store, and remove options for users to list new extensions.


How to Install Chrome Extensions in Opera

Most Chrome extensions will now work with the Opera browser …

One of the positive side effects of switching to Blink, the same browser engine that Google Chrome uses, is that Opera users can tap right into the vast extension repository of that browser. That’s at least the theory, but when you visit the Chrome web store you will notice that there is no way to install extensions as the add to Chrome button is not displayed on the page.

Us tech folks do not like bloat. Not when it comes to the operating system we use, but also not in the software that we use on the computer. Google Chrome up until now was a slim fast web browser. Sure, it lacked a few features but the rapid development pace of the Chrome development team added new ones all the time.
