As if there weren’t enough privacy worries about Facebook already?

Is social the next search? Rumors about Facebook Search have been spread for years; The data that Facebook’s developers could utilize sounds enormous: Content from more than 500 million users who share loads of contents on Facebook. The obvious benefit in comparison to traditional search engines? The data is user generated. Google or Bing crawl the web day in day out to find new sites, and updates to existing sites. Facebook on the other hand just needs to process the data that its users generate.

Here’s an interesting extension for Facebook users who are concerned about privacy …

Most weblogs and a lot of other websites have started to use Facebook scripts on their Internet pages. The most prominent script is Facebook Like, which displays a like button and the “likes” on the web page. Likes are basically votes for that page by Facebook users. There are other Facebook scripts, like recommendations for instance that can appear on websites as well.
