Times are rough for file hosting sites, with some being shut down by the authorities or in a lengthy legal dispute, while others are ceasing their business operations or changing the way they do business. We have seen all of this began at about the same time the Megaupload incident happened. Megaupload, one of the most popular file sharing sites back then was taken down back then on request of U.S, authorities. Find Out Where a Website is Hosted

This seems like both a useful trick for finding out more about a website, and also just a fun tool for the curious …

I just bought an expensive domain and website, and would like to share one of the things that I did to verify the seller’s legitimacy. Among other things, I check a website’s whois information and hosting information to make sure they match with the information in the sales letter. If they do not match, or look fishy, I walk away from a deal.
