Microsoft Enables Settings Protection in Internet Explorer 11

It’s unfortunate that the settings protection feature is only available to Windows 10 users, and it’s also hard to understand why all browsers didn’t add this feature years ago.

Microsoft enabled a new protective feature in Internet Explorer 11 for Windows 10 recently that it introduced for its Microsoft Edge web browser back in November 2015. The security feature has been designed to prevent third-party software from changing the browser’s homepage or default search engine. Search is a lucrative business and it is no coincidence that companies try to push adware or third-party tools to user systems to modify search providers.

Microsoft SmartScreen Filter gets Drive-By Attack Protection

This feature is only available on Windows Edge and Internet Explorer 11, but since Microsoft is in the process of ending support for all IE versions prior to IE 11, then maybe that’s not really an issue.

Microsoft SmartScreen Filter is a protective feature integrated into the Windows operating system as well as Microsoft’s web browsers Internet Explorer and Microsoft Edge that protects computer users from certain kinds of Internet-based attacks. It works similar to Google’s SafeBrowsing feature but is broader in scope as it is not limited to a single program but works system-wide.

Microsoft Releases Internet Explorer 11 for Windows 7

Microsoft has just released the final version of its web browser Internet Explorer 11 for Windows 7. The browser, originally released as part of the Windows 8.1 upgrade to the company’s most recent client operating system Windows 8, is now also available for Microsoft’s most popular operating system market share wise.

Internet Explorer 11 is the newest version of the default system browser of the Windows operating system. It ships with Windows 8.1, the update to Windows 8 that will be released to the public on October 18th, 2013. The browser will also be made available to users of the Windows 7 operating system. Microsoft has released a preview of Internet Explorer 11 for the operating system about a month ago, and it is expected that the final version will be made available in the coming weeks.

Just in case you need to know …

Internet Explorer 11 is a big step forward for the default Windows system browser. It is faster and more standards compliant than any other version of IE. That makes it a prime candidate for an update. The final version of the browser is however only available on Windows 8.1, a free update for all systems running Windows 8. Microsoft Windows 8 ships with Internet Explorer 10, which is upgraded to IE 11 when Windows 8.1 is installed on the system.

Microsoft Confirms Windows 8.1 Features, Announces Internet Explorer 11

The return of the Windows Start Button (sort of, kind of, but not really) …

The Internet rumor mill is buzzing with noise ever since Microsoft announced that it would release an update for Windows 8 this year. Windows Blue, or Windows 8.1, is not a service pack according to Microsoft but a feature upgrade for the operating system. Windows 8 has been heavily criticized ever since first public versions were made available by Microsoft for testing purposes.
