How to Add Search Engines to Internet Explorer

Just in case you’re not happy with your default IE9 search provider …

Internet Explorer gives you options to select a default search engine, also called search provider, during the initial setup on first start. You find a list of search providers that are currently installed in the browser under Manage Add-ons. Please note that this guide uses Internet Explorer 9 to walk you through the steps of setting up a search provider, and that it may differ if you are using a different version of Microsoft’s Internet browser.

Here’s a simple-yet-useful trick …

Microsoft’s Internet Explorer 9 saves files automatically to the Users\username\Downloads folder which is usually stored on the partition that Windows is installed on. Some users may want to move the download location to another hard drive or partition. Users with Solid State Drives for instance, or users with little space left on the Windows drive, may want to consider moving the file download folder to avoid space issues on the drive.

Like any other modern browser, Microsoft’s Internet Explorer 9 supports tabbed browsing to provide the means to open multiple websites in the same browser window. What many Internet Explorer users do not know is that Microsoft is offering customizability of the feature in the Internet Options. The menu has actually been there in previous editions of Internet Explorer as well, but it is easy to overlook and some changes have been made to the menu.
