This is kind of an interesting development; a new feature that makes it easier to set up Windows for use in retail/kiosk applications …

Yesterday the latest build of Windows “Blue” leaked out onto the web in the form of build 9374. These build leaks have provided such publicity for the company over the years that I would honestly be shocked to find that Microsoft themselves was not behind them. The latest¬†version did not bring a lot of new features and is still just as buggy as previous leaks, but there were a couple of interesting¬†inclusions.

With these tools, administrators can initiate power reboot cycles, take devices out of service, and access command functions on remote network devices without actually traveling to the equipment site in person. Obviously, remote power control and command access are very valuable tools … but what if your application doesn’t provide room for both a console server and a switched PDU?
