Usage Stats Indicate Windows 10’s growth is Slowing Down (Still Good Though)

Wednesday, October 7th, 2015

In never ceases to amaze me to see how many folks are still using Windows XP. Imagine how frustrating this must be for Microsoft; even though they’re essentially giving their new, 2015 operating system away for free, it still has a smaller market share than an operating system that they released in 2001.

Microsoft’s Windows 10 operating system has been out for two full months and usage stats indicate that the operating system’s growth slowed down considerably in September 2015. It was not surprising that Windows 10 was off to a good start usage share wise in its first month thanks to it being offered for free to nearly all Microsoft customers running Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 versions of Windows. According to NetMarketShare, Windows 10’s usage share jumped to 5.21% of the cross-platform operating system market in that first month surpassing Mac OS X, Linux and Windows Vista.

Apple Tops Operating System, Microsoft Application Vulnerability Chart

Monday, February 23rd, 2015

As the story states, there might be problems with the manner in which the data was analyzed, but the report does appear to challenge the prevailing notion of Apple’s superiority when it comes to system security.

If you had to guess the operating system with the highest number of reported vulnerabilities, which would you pick? I guess it is fairly certain that the majority would pick Windows 7 or Windows in general but that is not the case, at least not when you grab data from the 2014 NVD database.

Transform Windows 8 into Mac OS X

Monday, July 30th, 2012

Even after reading the article, I still can’t figure out why anybody would want to do this … unless they did it as a joke.

Don’t like the way how Windows 8 is shaping out to look like when it is released? Prefer the look and feel of Apple’s Mac OS X operating system? Then you may be interested in the Mountion Lion Skin Pack for the Windows 8 Consumer Preview which changes the interface of the operating system significantly.  The developer has promised to release an update once Windows 8 final is released by Microsoft so that this should not be of concern right now when installing the skin pack.
