Google Releases Chrome Office Viewer

I haven’t used Chrome Office Viewer yet myself, but I have used a few of the other Office substitutes, and found most of them somewhat disappointing, capability-wise …

If you need to open Office documents on the Internet you have quite the arsenal of services at your disposal to do just that. From Google’s own Google Drive service to Microsoft’s SkyDrive and a variety of other services that display Office formats right in your web browser of choice. And if you prefer a plain viewer, you can still use the Google Docs Viewer or Microsoft’s Office Web Viewer for that.

Microsoft Security Bulletins for May 2012 Released

A new month, and a new batch of Microsoft Security bulletins … several of these sound pretty important.

It is patch Tuesday in Redmond, and Microsoft has just made available a new batch of security related patches for some of their software products. The majority of security bulletins fix issues in the Microsoft Windows operating system and Microsoft Office, while some address issues in the Microsoft .Net Framework and Microsoft Silverlight.

Better Office Doc Preview appears in GMail

My only question is, “Why didn’t somebody do this a long time ago?”

The war of the webmail is raging on with the continued roll out of Microsoft’s new Hotmail service.  Now Google is coming back with new features to it’s own GMail service, the first of which was quietly announced over the weekend.

The company has added a one-click preview for the world’s most common file format, Microsoft Word documents.  In a statement on the GMail blog they said…
