Advertisers who rely on audio to get their message across are really gonna hate this feature …

MuteTab introduced options to mute audio playing in Chrome before Google integrated native audio controls into the browser. The extension placed an icon on Chrome’s main address bar that you could click on to display all noise making tabs in the browser, and to control the flow of audio.

Here’s a really cool add-on for Chrome … especially if you’re like me, and are easily annoyed by web page ads that play music.

Maybe you can relate to the following experience. I was watching a video on my computer and heard background noise in the background. First I thought that the video had been recorded with those by accident, but they were still there after I paused the video. I checked the open browsers and their tabs, one after the other to finally find out that it was a multimedia ad that was playing on a website. I closed the website and the annoying noise was gone.
