Opera 11.50 Final Released, Download Now

I’ve never really experimented with the Opera browser; this update looks interesting though …

Despite releasing Opera 11.50, Opera seems to be one of the few browser developing companies left that have not yet jumped to an accelerated release cycle that shoots browser versions through the roof. That does not mean that the company is not pushing out new versions of the browser, but when they do, they use their very own pace and scheme to do so.

Google does not seem to be the only company that has accelerated the pace of browser development in the last year. Opera Software yesterday released the first Opera 11 release candidate, a big milestone in the development of the new Opera browser.


Opera 10.63 Has Been Released

Man, considering all of the recent updates for Firefox, Chrome, Opera and other browsers, one could spend all of one’s spare time downloading browser updates.

Companies who develop web browsers often work on multiple strains of a web browser at the same time. Google does that for instance by maintaining three different builds of the browser. Mozilla does it as well, and so does Opera. Opera has been working on Opera 10.63 as well as Opera 10.70 for a while now. The plan was to introduce bug fixes, security updates and stability enhancements to Opera 10.63, and on additional features in Opera 10.70 (the latest public snapshot got web socket support for instance).
