How to Disable the Diagnostics Tracking Service in Windows

This month’s Microsoft Security Bulletins added a new tracking service to your PC; whether you wanted it or not. If you don’t want it, then here’s how to disable it.

Windows 7 and 8.1, Server 2008 R2 and Server 2012 R2 users and admins who have already installed the patches Microsoft released today for those operating system may have noticed that the updates included a patch that added a Diagnostics Tracking Service service to the operating system. Windows 10 users may know the service already as it has been part of the operating system for some time.

Here’s a quick summary of the fixes in this month’s Microsoft Security Bulletins …

This is the Microsoft Security Bulletins for June 2014 overview. It offers information about all security bulletins and non-security updates that Microsoft has released since May 13, 2014. This month, a total of seven bulletins are released for various Microsoft products including versions of Microsoft Windows client and server, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Lync and Internet Explorer. Two bulletins have received the highest severity rating of critical this month, while the remaining five a severity rating of important.

Microsoft Launches myBulletins – Personalized Security Dashboard

Although myBulletins could still use a few tweaks, the idea behind it is a good one … I’m surprised that Microsoft didn’t do this sooner.

Keeping up with all security releases that Microsoft publishes for its products may not be as easy as it sounds. While the monthly security bulletins offer a good start, and the “other updates” listing a good second, it may be difficult to keep an overview on everything that is going on, especially if you run systems with different operating system and product versions. Has a patch been released only for Internet Explorer 11, or also for other versions of the browser?

Microsoft Security Bulletins for March 2013 Released

I guess this might explain why my PC decided to restart itself last night …

Yes it is this day of the month ago. Microsoft has just released this month collection of updates and patches for its products. A total of seven security bulletins have been released this month that resolve security related issues in programs such as Microsoft Office, Windows, Internet Explorer and Microsoft Server Software.
