Free Ride Over: Windows 10 Growth Slows to a Crawl

No surprise here at all. Of course a free product is going to draw more takers than a product that one actually has to pay for.

The growth of Microsoft’s Windows 10 operating system slowed down to a crawl in September 2016 according to several analytics service. Microsoft never failed to mention that the company’s Windows 10 operating system was the fastest growing operating system the company ever produced. Considering that Windows 10 was offered as a free upgrade to any customer running a machine with a genuine Windows 7 or Windows 8 license, it is not really that much of a surprise.

Steam Uses Insecure, Out-of-Date Chromium Browser

If your children are gamers (or if you are,) then this article offers some food for thought regarding the popular Steam client.

Valve has integrated a custom version of the Chromium web browser in its Steam client that displays web content to Steam users. If the past couple of weeks have shown anything, it is that custom Chromium or Chrome versions are a security risk more often than not. Google analyzed third-party implementations of its Chromium browser recently, and came to the conclusion that they made user systems less secure despite claiming the opposite.
